the logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional

1. Space Roles and Responsibilities

a. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that 3 [$ u, ?- P# f" w
focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, 3 K0 G* v3 Z2 B( K* [
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
, \. \3 d5 ^- K6 ~) fThis strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:
( \9 U6 q2 z/ v8 R/ W3 J7 Q· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
; L) c' O' V0 P6 JTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
) ]" ]; [5 B4 o t) o4 ?take advantage of other internal and external advertising * r. |" q. a- _% {
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional " [( M; ^: m" v0 F3 V

· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities

a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost- 7 A- c! A E0 [. g6 K$ z
effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the 5 }, D1 L. Q f+ A/ j
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and
$ ^. D: R( {, H* p0 ucontribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
2 r3 S y+ e, h1 jthe renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited
2 G5 w5 e p5 Dto, the following:1 O- j* C& ]9 u/ i7 j0 M; S2 C
· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
6 O1 t" F2 V! Y9 \. X5 |and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, ! n6 b& h3 ~; Z6 p! G# M: J
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.! u* H& Q# ^; j) ~6 Y. t
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at
& @- E- ?5 L' Y/ Jall times, this includes the development and implementation of such
, T, ?. T+ Z: Q; ~8 @0 @* I& tschedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
: \3 V4 u% P7 t$ m# ccost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
+ B+ g; G; |1 j* \% w$ a2 j( T+ Tis in operation or needs to be in operation.2 Z/ A4 E1 Y% S$ o3 ?# o; v- u! C9 l
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure ; ]' B: a' @& a, v
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to , `5 ] Y8 V9 y
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all

· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
& o7 {6 \* F3 z5 t, N) j* B" Tand attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of + @' k% c0 W3 J: `
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
% W9 M5 A0 G7 f' P6 N: |7 u/ teffective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
3 m5 C$ p) n7 Q' x$ n& D' y! mappropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual
! a3 `! ^ n1 } y( H, ~) }is kep up-to-date at all times.
* |& |1 H" H! Y6 a% Z· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing 5 t+ m; V. x, g# X i7 \% S. a
excellent customer service to all renters.

$ C' f- e2 M* y7 n+ x) fscheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance

· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure # Q7 u/ C: h& ]5 z: O
the appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.

systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the

To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate . Z! a$ G! S3 p; B O! l5 u
operating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of . j& s# J I8 c" G: ^
Programming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets
" B4 f# C' O' Y1 K/ K. x! tManager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance &
7 @- u' E" m- i2 Z: Q& OAdministration prior to their submission for final approval.4 l# f0 G& z Z
· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively . k. X6 }. y7 G( d
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects
' U, g6 u% l- Q7 R7 Mthe best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.
* U% e+ g8 P7 ^5 H· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and
* H7 t: `& g8 R# m* S3 O& Iadministrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the
9 U4 k( ^) q: T6 Wcompilation of monthly and annual financial statements, and such

+ p5 h' K2 k" {0 H/ j( Vwith all financial and administrative procedures, with the SU´s

Administration with a view to determining and implementing action # ?" H# i6 n v1 [, W# q* Q
aimed at improving the financial and/or functional effectiveness of

5 b, D4 o: X( X· To ensure the existence of adequate, effective and accurate job

setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for

· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial

the requirements of the SU´s Manager of Programming and Venues and

a. To ensure, at all times, that the systems and processes used in

is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes

! C$ b, k& B; ]# ?pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing,

+ a2 X3 [2 I% F9 P% c' z$ z) e" o& mto ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and 3 v( l! t6 I: q" k3 G
functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.
+ S d' Y8 h# {% b· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures 4 _' X/ ^& C- [
as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-
- ~* Y0 O% F! n( xeffective operation of the venues.
. _, E+ l; e) }6 Y; L9 N· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to & M6 L8 s3 [1 D9 q: p* `! O
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
8 g+ u, u. c: g3 M( \8 F· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and
; G9 ^) X T% y' r$ ?, C8 cthat such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.
: F/ j8 u! |3 s# g% f! F/ u/ @' @· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their Q' e9 W$ w/ j3 O4 y" ?
particular event in the venues.4 D8 H2 t5 O! P! l
· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and
" R! V! T0 c( ]% u) V4 Psupporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the " i' \3 T4 T" c/ Y
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
$ F/ F$ D$ L) u9 K4 J* \+ W2 m· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular
$ x' j6 T4 ` d- Q- f$ Z8 N8 wrental with consultation with the Technical Director.
$ o7 j; P, S0 W2 Y; w) k4 k4 u· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
5 E' i1 e, ?1 o9 @# s7 K. JSU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately 5 B1 T, |+ I3 K# R
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in % |; b+ _$ m2 j! {
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.# A0 L: `* c o4 I
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, . j7 d( D b: k" c
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
" ~7 e: q6 W1 Q! k1 ~/ Dthe cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision 9 K3 d, Q+ A* {5 L
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of 0 y* u/ V- F7 M. y

· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of / W( q" L* C' n8 f8 F
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of
$ ^2 ^" U$ z+ Dmarketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as 8 F2 u- m; j$ R! X& @
may provide such challenges and/or problems.

1) Minimum two years related post secondary education, or
