in one of the Boardwalk's high rise buildings (Galbraith House) for

While the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has
9 d: q7 R$ q3 R" Tincreased by something more than 70% percent we are getting paid
$ p' `; X1 n8 I4 M/ z d, h& V9 kexactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
' D" t; e* `* d( F% m' hadmission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students
* z' j- d9 u, d7 J6 e# K* M=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after / t- C4 l E: n' O$ v2 V. {
tuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just $ v4 C: e: s5 Q9 c: `
imagine that a new student gets the same amount of money that I am ; w8 L, ~" _$ g y+ N8 N# q6 a/ d
getting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of
- p7 K5 N- S! t. }: u6 f4 ?: {us) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was 7 L4 ]% A G0 e4 ^( [" V
admitted and has to incur at least 70% more in average living costs.

Also have in mind that Alberta is a rich province and University of

: W0 ^$ J4 F$ W7 A9 J' ]students are the main pillars of research work at the university.

My objective in bringing all abovementioned points in your attention
2 g. O7 d% X) p4 T& @- p+ Vis to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and 4 X4 E4 \2 @+ o, D. W. M
especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take
( B/ m0 l$ P4 ~# v" k$ A
/ `6 {5 N! i9 I; `4 b' F8 h$ ~3 }" Jinitiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for
9 w1 ~* l# w6 D$ K% j$ N- Zgraduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?
