Position title: Community Development Worker

' i- J8 q& F( R7 |# L" I: s) C: CPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
! Z- ^0 n, ?! O$ u0 r% P$ d- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services# w: P3 D) }- e \" t9 l3 ]
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
9 k3 n8 \+ \. I) _+ c. p- coordinate good will activities
" z9 b: r1 u4 u! _! q. E0 C- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
6 T8 ]3 I I! n6 F& f$ c- submit information for community news ! k. g3 n- Q( O0 s
- prepare and send AGM information to members
# @, c( k+ y5 I6 \6 ^4 L- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website, {; o1 j* a$ g' c$ ]: r
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre' k, r( Z% b0 c3 X m; R8 z* @
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
% l) J3 v1 D! k3 Z o- assist in writing proposal for ISP
+ k5 N( G& r& _* M1 J- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team/ p' m3 l5 k, M4 Y }
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time, s% |+ V! g) T/ I/ e- I! \( K

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications5 V; {/ v9 J/ Y/ v( n$ H% J
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
$ y7 P5 P3 Q3 x* `# B) p- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
$ m, U7 {) B" r) p5 w, A& N- experience in community work and immigrant services& x) o) s+ c: ]
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
* ?% l0 M, z& g) W" \- leadership skills6 f8 B' @& m9 ?
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, E" k# h6 j2 E D: q
