Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. & ?$ U9 L! N. F

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
2 Q) X4 q6 M2 n* U$ [' f5 \- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
1 x' h6 x- S5 b& X! B( Y6 E$ i. Y- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
+ @% p+ R% x+ t* V- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies4 E! n7 a) |3 W" d) u, T% ~
- coordinate good will activities% p! C2 J* r s$ E4 H
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members: @1 s8 p1 q5 n: P8 J
- submit information for community news ) ~" q% g s: o1 V% V+ ~7 g
- prepare and send AGM information to members

- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- assist in writing proposal for ISP6 X$ R9 f! F/ a, @/ Z
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

3 i X8 I5 `0 n2 Q- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education ! z5 J- \5 s' }, i7 l
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
/ s2 ?; x# \% G! N4 a9 W8 q; I- experience in community work and immigrant services( j' n) ?3 r+ K& j- }
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars

- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
