Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. ) V, G, z5 o2 B/ |+ N

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
* u# C8 e) s% V' l2 Z- R6 \5 D; K! t- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
7 x. O$ f7 M8 B- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies( [4 _2 T5 @$ f, T8 t# r. m* b
- coordinate good will activities
8 O5 G/ l' t" E" O( r- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
$ Q9 `6 p# O$ L- submit information for community news % S: e) [, j3 Z% v. |% z3 R
- prepare and send AGM information to members
0 ~* i9 [7 q; \! i; Q3 J; c Z- g- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.( C/ D( {1 @. U$ Y
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities% ~1 W. Y# R7 X' x$ n! b
- update ASSIST website
. K! O Y7 W( k- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre& w: n( M9 y/ m. t
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP: R0 ~) C3 C& }6 q q- \9 z I
- explore new ideas for ISP 9 y# `& V9 _3 |& h- t+ W
- hold regular meetings with ISP team. H7 T7 L( L9 X
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education * O) W8 C4 T, ?8 i' _
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
- O! _' T; |# I$ Q' c4 g- experience in community work and immigrant services% S$ e$ {) Q, F! l6 V) I. C
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars8 M: z f- H- e& I5 E
- leadership skills
