L, oPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
3 U( p- d0 x8 A9 y: X* v- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
. e2 ]4 d, L- w8 e- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services9 f$ U$ r% S: G
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
/ k8 X) V5 |! Y3 \- coordinate good will activities4 t, j& b' u- W- o0 A2 C/ k
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

5 L( d5 g# b% y" r- prepare and send AGM information to members% k6 v0 k) u. {
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.8 s1 D' P! j6 K' a
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

; q X* Z( i* `0 r; J% w- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP' J+ o b: F8 B L, P% L
- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time# Z- o$ w8 T, Z2 Y y) B. w6 R
- update membership database

Qualifications1 F' i; V) r- Q( {/ F3 R, _
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education B# ~ l$ h4 |$ K/ M
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
0 a: a& p1 C/ x9 U/ O- experience in community work and immigrant services! o5 r( @) j& Q+ {2 r O
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars7 F& S5 ~0 O3 p0 b
- leadership skills
