Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
+ H4 S& o4 ]0 d! B; \& b- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services( {3 |; F- h0 `! ^) e; s4 r
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services0 l! N4 y7 p* h/ p
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

8 {6 \; V0 r) D1 b( E7 z0 i$ F- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- hold regular meetings with ISP team/ j. a4 G, E7 H5 v. ?% l* u1 \
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

3 x7 R8 y6 x( I+ Z$ P) ]: f- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education - P" W9 n; d; X$ g& L) k- Y, i
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills/ n6 F- x2 O0 O: e
- experience in community work and immigrant services
7 r, J1 e6 e3 z( m+ N: ]- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars- r- X( z& T( o) B7 H, w; P
- leadership skills
