FUNCTIONS:/ ]8 R5 W! u4 @2 ^& E

7 n+ {( e* E' U" q4 \As the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies.  This includes:

·         Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.$ A1 H! q& V1 P0 G2 J9 u/ `

·         Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.) e5 Q$ h$ W  {2 ]& K* O

·         Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.

·         Leading the development of related policy and procedures, and internal training where required.0 S7 W+ i5 J2 Q% H% ]) q; ?; N

·         Administration of the financial accounting module of the financial information system.9 V$ s; [. K# f; b: d

7 K! t- k* J& l2 H3 Z% h·         Managing a group of professional and administrative staff, in completing ongoing corporate accounting functions.

·         Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:7 z% L5 L4 n5 Q; g3 Q

. W! m! d: S# j  L+ d, o5 H·         University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.
% Z5 Y0 ?/ p  L  Y* m! v4 ]2 v, N* c  V) W. f
·         A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field., N; A3 y/ E2 U) h- I& _9 R
5 U6 t4 L3 N# w, g9 e
·         Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.

·         Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  L" B3 c6 C+ t·         A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.

) |% R6 v8 g  [: p0 y; c·         An understanding of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and of commodity tax in a municipal environment would be of benefit.

SALARY RANGE:
