What activities will I do during my road test?

Who is my Examiner?

· All Driver Examiners are licensed by Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation under the Driver Training$ l7 i; a5 l* X$ R" u/ l# t2 i
and Driver Examination Regulation. They are monitored to ensure they provide high quality road
/ w' a& E8 Y- | Ftests. They should be courteous and professional, keeping conversation at all times relevant to the

then you must also provide acceptable photo ID.! Q6 I' ~! w6 m7 H
· Wear clothing that is practical for driving and comfort. It should be appropriate for the
8 V6 l# g7 T- Z6 t% g# Lweather conditions (in case your vehicle breaks down and you have to wait or walk).5 m( ]" k( {; l* D- h" i% n0 \
· Your vehicle must meet all legal requirements (good mechanical condition, valid* p4 N8 k2 U7 `7 p- q) T
insurance and registration) and have enough fuel for at least one hour of driving.- R8 Q5 K: b) y" C* g' a' c
· Payment for the test must be made directly to the Examiner or Registry office.

% R2 ~ r) H6 NThe Examiner will do a vehicle check with you. You will be in the driver’s seat and the examiner will ask you to& [& R- I1 }' Y( A6 K4 j8 E
assist in checking the signal and brake lights, horn, brakes, and steering. You will be asked to describe and
+ e2 K" ]# j# ndemonstrate two of the instruments or controls inside the vehicle, such as the hazard lights and windshield. P6 N8 O0 y8 ^
wipers. The Examiner will provide information before you move the vehicle about the route and the instructions

7 D* v: U/ h$ a& v& B2 v$ u· You will be given ample instruction in advance for each manoeuvre and activity.
4 d: a% ]: I* b, H" |& q· Points will be assigned for errors. You will be allowed a maximum of 75 points to pass the road test.
8 C+ S1 `0 ?+ z S" aYou must not do anything that is considered unlawful, dangerous, or unsafe, (for example, speeding or not1 l$ R0 v4 q/ L, H
stopping at a stop sign).

· The Examiner will not ask you to do anything illegal.$ e1 [5 ]6 x) k0 Q
· When the road test is finished, the Examiner will highlight the areas you performed well, as well as' X( V: a( M, E' w: B* D% l
the areas you need to improve upon. The points for errors will be explained at this time.

Test Permit. This will indicate that you have passed. Take this permit, along with your learner’s licence, to any
7 p: D9 `3 o( Z8 bAlberta Registry Agent to have your licence changed to a Class 5 Probationary Licence. There will be a fee for this8 C ^, f7 l# Z6 P8 @
service.

The Examiner will give you a copy of the Driver Examination Checklist form. This form will indicate that you have
