Idioms----I learned some idioms and made some sentence. Who can guess the meanin

He quit his job as soon as he  got an interview with a publishing company.. He really jumped the gun.% [3 n* L$ n) }5 z
His wife saw he having lunch with a female client in a restaurant, she jumped the gun and accused him of having an affair.

He wants to have his cake and eat it, but there is no doubt that he won’t be successful without hard working.2 r9 \+ z# d" C6 z2 a4 V
They were supposed to win, but Jim blew it. Eventually they took second place in the game..1 s- G; g% U! h

About one year ago I met a girl in university, I slept with her after our first date, we really jumped the gun and had a good time as well. However, when I proposed to her, she said, "Hold your horses", it turned out she was married! Obviously, I would get burned if her husband knew about our affair, so I told her explicitly, "You can't be married and single, you can't have your cake and eat it, too!",  I was very upset, coz I was expecting a serious relationship, but she blew it! She had a family, she even had a son, she just cheated on me, that is way off base! After I broke up with her, I have to be back to square one and look for a new relationship.

mostly good, but I don't think the "get burned" and "blew it" is used properly here.
