May 9 2008 - Statistics Canada reports that the unemployment rate rose to 6.1% in April even though employment increased by an estimated 19,000 over the month as more people entered the job market. Seasonally adjusted, unemployment rates vary from 13.2% (Newfoundland and Labrador) to 3.3% (Alberta).
