May 9 2008 - Statistics Canada reports that the unemployment rate rose to 6.1% in April even though employment increased by an estimated 19,000 over the month as more people entered the job market. Only Manitoba registered significant jobs growth during the month. Overall, the decline in manufacturing jobs continues as a major trend with 112,000 factory jobs lost since April 2007. * e3 a- p& W. W! J% E# m; E5 [3 [0 n
