- {! h3 ?' h7 m" \0 J4 Y& bAs part of the City of Edmonton's Newcomer Internship Program, we are seeking a highly motivated internationally trained Accountant to work as an intern for a period of 11 months.  The objective of this program is to provide foreign trained professionals with meaningful Canadian work experience related to their qualifications, skills and experience. : x) g! I5 g) O1 v

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Accountants Payable and Receivable, you will perform professional/senior technical accounting work involving control over processing and maintenance of complex and diverse accounts receivable and billing financial systems and records.  This may include:  o$ I; Q4 X; m" X' j
•        Assisting in reviewing the overall accounting system and inter-related financial processes within a diversified accounting environment, R  I- R) F% Q
•        Developing performance reports, including monthly billing and collection activity, customer profile, and specialized reports including year end financial statements
$ j5 A1 Q* p% ?  B/ p•        Providing technical and professional advice and assistance to business are officials in matters of financial policies and procedures under the shared services delivery module
$ |# A+ R7 J- t! |( c•        Performing complex trend analysis, transactional analysis and reconciliation's

Job Requirements:  
8 y3 k  S, H: ]. Q8 N+ i•        University degree obtained outside of Canada (bachelor or applied) in an accounting-related discipline2 k' q) s8 Z. m  w% @
•        Working towards a Canadian accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA) would be considered an asset3 b6 p$ P1 i9 o) ~. X
•        Three (3) years of progressively responsible international accounting experience
; d+ T% L8 z8 r, j) R8 |' Q) ~•        A basic working knowledge of Corporate Financial Systems3 }' p6 a  V" L" j; ?2 n
•        Demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheets  {! q  s+ c: h7 g
•        Demonstrated ability to deal courteously with the public and make decisions within established policies9 V1 z0 V  t1 ~8 m: Z3 m7 R! d; L: D
•        A basic knowledge of accounting, administrative procedures and regulations including GAAP and GST
/ n) V% E. n8 U5 U•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6 I0 r8 ?! S* YHours of Work:  33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
) ?! M1 g- w  O$ ?4 MHours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
