General Description
' P1 F2 R# Z2 |The Peace Talks Project is a unique combination of community partnerships and agencies responding to the issues of bullying within the community. The Peace Talks (PT) Learning Team[1] have partnered with Alberta Conflict Transformation Society (ACTS)[2] to develop the Peace Talks Coordinator position. The Coordinator identifies and addresses gaps and develops interventions for those affected by bullying within designated schools.

Qualifications:
* `; Y) p5 J( V" b1 B7 xDiploma/Degree in Child and Youth Care/Human Services/Community Development or equivalent education/experience. Knowledge of the school system, connections within the helping community, awareness of family violence and bullying behavior are required. The ability to network, engage with youth, develop the program and take initiative is an asset.

% {* a9 y# ~: X5 h8 EThe Peace Talks Coordinator would address bullying on all levels within the school culture commencing with the students. They will engage with individual schools and or school clusters to develop bullying prevention and intervention strategies. A focus would be in dealing with areas where there are gaps within the school system or community. The project coordinator will oversee the project work in schools and with clusters groups reporting to the Learning Team. " w4 O' l' O9 p! w

Identify gaps in addressing bullying (Pre and post testing of students and schools by administering surveys to schools, compiling results)/ T9 n( H- x" {0 B6 N

Meet with Principals/teachers with yearly plan to address unique school needs

Work one-on-one with students regarding bullying behaviors as required

Attend school functions such as activity days, open houses, as relevant

) e% r& P2 d  j- d- nResearch and understand the current trends and issues impacting youth to engage in positive relationships and develop or maintain current resource binder

Engage schools and communities in needs assessments and evaluations as well as be aware of current trends and issues in youth.

Collaborate with community groups, agencies, programs and other existing bullying programs and projects

% {& R# V  y5 r9 I# ^4 z% gThe Peace Talks Learning Team is looking for someone who is comfortable with the big picture, putting thoughts into action, passionate views on personal and community safety, bullying behavior, capacity building, and peaceful interventions. The Peace Talks Coordinator is required to work in a team setting and reports to the Peace Talks Learning Team.

Salary range:
