/ n/ Y+ e7 @* P- T * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis/ f" z) t1 q4 D" t' h6 |, a
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
2 x; p+ l; E. M * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
& t$ {4 w7 c+ R2 t- U! d * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
* V# g) {" a' w$ D" w5 Q' K- l * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
( g8 ~- M' D9 H* g( | * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals- f2 d# `. o/ Q/ U: i! B% B
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
. q* _. Q. O# [4 S8 c * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
# |5 s# y8 F9 F/ B( J, C# V! i" I2 Y * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications4 [3 b, h% G" C8 Q

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred3 Y3 s4 h8 V0 d+ ~- w
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)7 I2 s& F3 p6 M- `
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel9 g5 }1 Z' D3 j' Y& A6 V2 |
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
