Duties: |; C, e: ^; L. G* k) j

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
0 ^5 }7 K1 U4 R$ a7 f3 s# H/ Q3 O0 j * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
7 L' |! {/ M, i0 P* q * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
% j+ X- }. e3 F) V( i4 t * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client5 a0 S$ O3 {9 H9 B5 T, i
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry Z: M/ h4 L1 l1 y
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals' [4 Y0 s% F' G$ v& q6 h" e g
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
. a8 G1 e& A% R * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
: @# T: _( l5 x, h; y5 Y! x * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)8 [* B0 N6 H' l+ j) B) P# j8 d

Qualifications
$ O N& _* ?% q3 Z, s6 @" ]+ r" S% X9 E8 n
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred4 C+ W3 o, T7 K; E
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
1 F O0 P9 W0 o- U+ x# v/ @ * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
3 c K0 U* r0 s. k% A * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
0 K+ f8 h$ ^& h$ \ * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
