( _, Z0 E7 R8 @6 O6 r5 kPosition Abstract: as a community organizer you will be responsible for providing training to residents of an inner city community who are actively involved in creating strategies for a healthier neighbourhood. Working towards ensuring wide participation by residents/organizations in the local community you will assist in reinforcing inclusivity. }+ r2 e5 J" N& B$ F' \1 t
8 A+ U9 x( i' _7 e% V2 kPLUS: a capable advocate for alternative dispute resolution, you will liaise between the community and elected officials/municipal administration, assisting in the development of a strong working relationship between these groups. 6 A! r& D- G( \5 D
1 N, \) {* U1 f: [, F3 _) nEducation & Experience: the position calls for an individual with education in the humanities or related field + 2 years experience in the field of community organizing. Special interest in ecological literacy and sustainable communities will be an asset. 5 c0 R$ _) r! U7 T0 G
& R* {0 T( b9 O+ F9 ]$ H+ cOther Skills: the successful candidate will have a strong background in building group capacity & seeing projects through to completion. There is a significant element of research and an opportunity for creativity in assisting residents to address community challenges. Working in a non profit environment will mean that experience in sourcing/writing grant proposals is an asset.
