Duties- D, C: ^. v1 n

* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region3 [3 ~. R5 e. j# ~" h& D3 R
* Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
0 X; m6 i8 s7 u# b9 u9 Z * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
3 v4 k v6 a; S# R, F * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
' p; R* H# @! w } * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
{' U' l, `; K, s2 m0 }0 D * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses' X1 o5 m/ i: x5 z: Z
* Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth- |$ p" _' [0 f& T2 a
* Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program$ Z9 I" N) z7 K" e- |! ~( k7 h
* Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment1 n6 l7 K( r7 P+ Y" N { F3 G
* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports" ~ }- _+ ?& j: o5 _( H) r: I9 x! s
* Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
! e+ F6 R. }+ K& X3 ? * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
3 S9 ]+ v( C& u- ^& c( q * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

) d+ R8 U+ p/ ]5 B! V$ D * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline4 I. q+ G i: K/ H; J5 x# l7 j
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
* E$ w+ g D0 F * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
) \; r( V# E) t * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
: l+ U# [+ N0 D) e * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

* Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills

* Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
