原因是：

“self-inflicted” has the connotation of creating theunnecessarypain for one self.

折腾 in Hu"s speech has a strong connotation that such kindofsetback is self-seeking instead of being due to theinterferencefrom outside.3 i3 ?$ h5 @3 V9 h5 q
8 `8 C2 i3 g ^- h& D “Setback” is a much better word than “trouble”, whichanunseasoned translator would like to use in the firstinstance.“Setback” especially refers to the obstacle ordifficultyencountered in achieving a strategic goal. |
