A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care./ `* a3 H) l/ h! U* i& a0 S* {
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
. K' A: [+ v/ t/ {, xknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.) i2 t- M) E0 B d( j: u
The program includes the following elements:2 W+ H5 j2 d1 d# r+ H
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
, }) q, l4 N/ ], |7 C9 Q; `+ B4 Z• Standard Child Care First Aid
t8 E# q6 a; h3 \/ h• WHMIS
3 M$ ~$ V, f- \! N• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care: Q* {4 _+ k7 l. G" X; b! y8 p% C
• Components to improve communication skills2 l$ X0 M0 c2 s5 h% N6 B
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search

Eligibility Criteria
: g- @8 u3 g" @! g• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
& x5 _9 s2 L1 n8 Vof Canada+ [! }2 W. B5 u; I
• have a Social Insurance Number) s1 p0 c2 ]5 a9 c+ g5 d2 w: q" q
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check; ?. U% L! N; T7 u$ N+ H/ h4 I6 }
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
% i8 W1 M! V# d( u7 @• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time9 H/ l$ B: A: |$ d% Y N- E
program# P$ a5 [9 A7 Z% z! | j, w" w( B$ s
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet

• be unemployed or underemployed.' K+ R5 ?0 c. R, [4 x' I0 T
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
