A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.! f/ u/ I* J+ v. Z, q$ ]7 C' ?
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and3 K6 } v/ Y" s8 {! W" k9 \4 b
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
, P" p; W& p+ dThe program includes the following elements:
! Q; M# `/ B8 \+ m• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)6 W; ?6 I, k# a( @
• Standard Child Care First Aid
4 d0 v# U4 s8 k( l$ B! n! T+ O• WHMIS
* }" Z9 T; n8 M$ M• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
8 ?' [5 d' B- M M1 w: s6 A# H• Components to improve communication skills; T( P" k- S# z+ _ k
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search) i' O/ J* a! f S5 S0 ]
• Practicum Placements

• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
6 f8 x. s6 T" L5 Lof Canada* k' [% o t+ v7 y1 a# k' \
• have a Social Insurance Number- w# W6 \$ U. X8 \7 i$ V( k
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check) ~* H. L* K: D; w6 p
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent6 |: D* T) A* M7 [
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time/ H5 S6 l8 X8 X5 u8 D7 ]0 V
program
# d* Y5 a0 C% rParticipants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet) h8 F9 Z, q, Y8 W) z+ z
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
* \+ m2 j9 C( f" X• be unemployed or underemployed.
1 ]7 ]4 d( h1 C8 z4 l8 U4 x' HThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course
