Duties: U! o7 U# x. U# O
) u/ g$ b# v5 j' F/ \ * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications: W0 J2 D! Z* ^* }
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis. k$ C! I/ {' x7 D! R( }) u9 f
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance0 G0 Y- V; c$ @. ?" Z. x7 w
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
?# ~5 D1 F# [! b. _9 s * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies9 N) U/ Q7 T R% V
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs" B% x' _. k. i! z- c9 F
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
