* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications/ {; e% N3 ]) X) i1 V' w% E& Y$ q8 b
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
. A; y( G3 v) K1 b+ n * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
: u* T9 j0 ]1 `8 b7 N9 B * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
# l8 W1 @) e' ~: _4 u Y H" O * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies- y7 e* V2 y# F" k# ]# Z& m! H
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
( S6 y f9 u7 I% X5 S! g/ w" M * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
