* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
, V/ W1 b& C7 u; N * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis* ]+ o1 q7 b5 i3 b1 N4 U
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
& ]1 x8 x4 ^7 n/ d( @0 @# R$ O * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
9 N6 d* U1 g, x/ K# f! n5 |& x * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
* Z, Z" t# N3 w; A * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
1 f0 d& x7 J3 U * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

Qualifications

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred, z5 M" T2 I) Q9 j( h
* Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
