Duties, _0 {2 q, Y3 u% ]7 l% d
: Z# h+ D4 W8 ~0 c
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
/ k# D, P1 |; V& Z2 w * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis, B+ [& X7 G. e W3 W4 }
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
7 ~. h( M h) |4 z- O8 w * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
0 e- M" ]5 O7 o0 Y" x$ x7 p2 s * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies# b2 ]1 ] O; u6 D4 q, D J% t6 v
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs! z. a% k3 m" w; d9 Q9 M
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment' E& g" E! ]8 Q' J6 k

Qualifications

' q) @6 w1 {4 B: m * Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
