Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. 1 Z% w4 I% @& }& T" }

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)) D# k, e# v! Q& u

Key Responsibilities Include
; A1 g' e1 a. k. f! bActivity Planning and Daily Activity6 E6 ^" r/ C+ F# d
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.7 J. o/ h7 f t0 b2 D2 `- Z
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. / j4 H1 b5 ^9 O# S
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
7 B& k; x; v9 |) ]+ m• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.1 Z# r+ u* M' ~" H) O/ I
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.# I/ o8 t+ X- k
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.; K: R) @: t/ _3 n0 M1 r

The successful candidate will have:
+ U. T7 C: [+ D% j) h4 Z4 W$ x _• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
$ P7 r6 d" ?3 b3 s• Experience with children
) G- S% _0 L% x' p3 b: S• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
2 H# z2 h7 S6 Y; r* Q& h9 b• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
% S+ B6 d' j n* T• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.6 k8 f( ], C3 r) ]/ b
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
& D; f N5 K3 H7 U• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
# @. }1 X6 u# k8 i7 w• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check ( H; z! R7 Z$ p/ g# r
