Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. We are looking for 4 temporary full time summer staff.

(8 week contract @ 35 hours a week)

$ D% A& ^; F% {+ |Key Responsibilities Include:
# C4 Q! x' A1 f% E: y! {Activity Planning and Daily Activity2 C/ T6 _* M9 X0 U$ `/ M
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
) z& C: K! h1 c! B+ S5 a• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. + E( J- S# N; m$ m
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
0 t4 h+ I. I U; @+ V. k1 w• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.( ?" Q$ l/ J( O
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
! {' g) o# l7 d: Q# l1 F• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.$ m. L" n5 r# x2 }7 k3 ?' `

The successful candidate will have:: |3 q4 @) q) ?; ]4 w
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
, }- o2 P5 h/ M7 ?, s• Experience with children4 p; \! _4 v6 M& `% j9 W c3 [- X* |
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth - `5 g! r+ j! P% s9 U# B8 s. A
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.9 Q8 T6 I8 O/ ?5 Q/ Y" w8 w, W
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.3 h& z" k7 }1 {8 q8 a" v% U5 l
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources: l' N* Q/ A; A6 Y( P) b
• Documentation of a clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 8 l' O$ r# p) W
• Documentation of a clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
