You can get a Home Equity Line of credit(HELOC) if you do have any plan to purchase anything else or a second house.

The bank will give you a letter. You need this letter to clear your land title. My lawyer did that for me, so I am not exactly sure where he did it, maybe city of Edmonton. BTW, you don't need a lawyer to do it. You can do it yourself.
谢谢4,6,7 楼的回复, 我确实收到了一封银行的信, 信上说“We are pleased to advise the registration of the discharge for the above mentioned HELOC/Mortgage has been forwarded to Land Title for Release of our Interest. Should you wish to obtain an updated copy of title, please contact your local Registry Agent in 3 to 6 weeks." 我还需要去政府的land title office办手续吗?是不是银行已经办完了?
我的理解是:银行已经向land title office发出release interest的文件,land title office收到后会在系统里更新,但政府不会主动寄证书给屋主(但系统已经显示正确)。若屋主想得到那张粉红色的land title证书,还是 ..." B* |) C; s$ ?- o' N) c
