* Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
" }: U7 e" w/ ] * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr9 ^9 S+ q; ^6 l, e8 b) b$ L: e
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps
+ G3 _& g3 H( i6 F0 L% v9 {! Y. G. L * Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations
' x3 k6 [$ q- o' r * Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations/ e' i5 K2 M& x6 K$ G V
; z5 [7 r6 k1 R% \9 C( O4 w7 _Qualifications1 C; S, H/ q: C* @. Q3 X7 r
- P1 C C, x& u/ E" P * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
; [: V5 U- f/ f* H' m5 `5 D, C4 f * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
, S" ~- H; F: ]+ D- U * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers% A6 h P3 l" c: s' r
* WHMIS training- l- J1 a$ y$ s" D/ ]# H, O# Q
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
