This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.7 K8 g2 S& D8 a `8 c. L! v. g$ o# m Eligibility Criteria. G0 V p% g* c. {/ a
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria: ; Y) {/ g& s" f7 B6 e7 \•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less. w* K/ j) G2 ^* `
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education 0 r# G' r* ?/ r- r$ Z9 n* V; Z•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English+ j( U7 E7 H% ?% e/ W
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada 0 M) j( L; o h/ v3 c4 N•No prior Canadian work experience in their field/ ?7 D0 H6 T+ w2 \, ?' q
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less! I8 Q/ j) H9 _, T% i* F- e8 h
•Be eligible to work in Canada |$ K) Z3 e" a" t•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop % X+ h* B; |% s ?•Lack access to professional networks4 t( a1 p. b" L( D; d
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning( |7 a3 S* E5 h- z9 Y Time Commitment 5 j) X4 g& [% m& i @0 T4 `7 eThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week. 3 T' c: d( Z8 L! e* ~; WMentees who meet the program requirements are welcome from any profession and must complete the Mentee Application Form.
