24 HOURS OVER 4 MONTHS( [3 D% A& b0 \, c
This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
- Z1 l5 }% S! A9 i+ D% k8 ?Eligibility Criteria
1 @+ \. `; v& f0 {- ^$ K3 [All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
0 W6 Y' i/ \. W+ \" E9 r* x% g4 ?•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less/ b( T Q/ u* N% D' Z, M
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education" w* _# f& l+ p
•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English( w: r0 ?: E6 ]( h3 T! f4 w; u
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
6 l# f7 D6 S3 E5 y•No prior Canadian work experience in their field% _) ~# Q) m, q6 z
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
; Y P1 `+ w; s& a2 w; A•Be eligible to work in Canada) ~5 h$ `" B4 [7 a! i6 _
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop
% r% {( F- l+ w•Lack access to professional networks
4 P% E( D$ p: y7 E•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning4 Q D+ v6 B, R! k
Time Commitment
! P! ~; Q+ T6 V) F$ n V' w' }; Q) H! IThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.! Q% c: \1 o+ ^: o8 W$ n( Q
