A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin. C7 t; X! c* C# g+ N0 z

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.
/ l& `. z+ E6 ?' {% FNo illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA). + I) {: k6 ^& R2 k, L
2 [- ~2 m/ N7 K" m. i; w5 OIn a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.) E; w( v7 Z$ _3 z

CFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
