Responsibilities
+ I1 S- w+ N3 w9 s+ g r( CIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
, [6 y& \* G, Q! _1 Z2 u5 t7 u8 `Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
) M/ W7 o# K% Q% M g1 i- q, uAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. . w6 J3 J' s: v0 m
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
$ ^' }, F1 K7 z @1 K8 N* OMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
% i+ X: s5 s" F- K# LMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. ( h! Y+ o" D/ t" v
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
1 F0 s; _3 N; j4 C B2 DEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
) k3 ]/ t& m' H# bDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. % S5 m) b& m4 Z0 W6 @' ]
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
# @! ~' R& Z& {Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. 1 R% C- w3 H* K; s+ Q3 y
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. . |. [( B+ b1 O# ]) t/ m! l) k$ V# C
Qualifications + \! W' |0 r* I+ G8 m
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
; j- u# Y- M$ oPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. & i0 l0 Z! H( P# h4 ^, W O
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
; |. ?; o8 S/ f% Y0 a2 D/ P$ ]Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 6 O, D7 J- t/ b) L
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
$ {1 l+ v! A* U9 A4 G) m) ?Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 0 L9 q! j7 ? K3 Z( J& t- M( p
