Responsibilities
& }0 v# g, V2 PIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
- ~" g4 v. k% Y' @) NPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
# `0 g1 J3 M* w j) |Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
* I& {& B' O9 T+ B0 GOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
5 k4 Y' N; d9 m% ^" KMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
) D) Q# p W) v. v9 Z: A$ u+ MMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. % a# O& u5 v! U( W' }
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 1 [/ L$ K( C4 d) H
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. O5 \. k( y2 G' g5 k
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. , o3 p! t. x0 A; p4 y9 x8 b& ^. E6 w
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
9 f+ y6 M$ M6 \* TIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. " }$ p& V, P/ d& R1 {9 u5 T
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. ' X ?" Z/ H3 x
Qualifications $ c7 |3 @. u8 }" Y
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 6 d) C6 a% p5 f# o* V
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. / b/ S4 }3 u: d8 q3 }3 O& }
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
( |3 f1 B k* {6 n" y5 zPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
4 C/ T# S% x* l3 u6 X* Y4 p2 Q) IIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 0 F L# V$ G6 r. p N' {
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
