In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. - S# L# a4 q  h
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 9 D3 \+ R3 F" U- v- D" D3 H
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 6 v. G! h% J" Z( u: R: A+ O2 }. M
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
+ {4 {! g, O$ r; L- Z1 YMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. & `+ `0 S* C: A" ]/ P
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
: M( j( R9 h* e( M; L; [8 tExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
" |  E9 L: \6 v. D2 g  r  AEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
: `9 ]7 i  n2 _9 U( Y8 z" ADiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. ) y* ]( F- \! [& a' r4 t- ?
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 8 l; o! q7 d0 y, Y9 N
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
( L# N, Q) R8 S  v) P1 b& w4 dEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
4 A4 d. z; s" P, mQualifications 8 W4 M: P5 G' D( m8 ^' m, q2 m( ^
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. - H& l- y2 z) \* h- N1 }3 o
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 5 \2 _/ b- q8 Z" e* f* ?' i
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 0 G: V/ u2 K  `
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 3 b: E( T, v$ i; M1 f
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
