In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. + ^9 @& X1 n+ b r8 L. m+ k& D+ Z
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
) T9 `1 u. P7 W- x% PAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
0 Z& N, Y$ ^5 j& UOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 4 o. D& z& P. i6 z/ P
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. ' X) w- @5 m- u! U' @
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. " t, o2 f; q2 }$ D
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
5 E) z8 H' }" f$ MEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
2 f8 q! q( ~9 M, ^: I1 jDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 3 B% j* A) ^6 r9 W0 N# s _
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
' r0 d, c7 D- F. q0 i/ _Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. + X% \9 Q, c: u8 n9 q& @! I6 U7 |. Y
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
: \+ Q7 @" a% ePost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
2 E( R4 U% m8 @# |Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. $ f6 v9 `$ E/ b* [
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
6 o/ R( I/ G, o: _Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
( }4 S* W8 G( l# j. m5 a- b8 {; kProficiency in a second language is considered an asset. ) a) x, E! y/ N& ? A/ F
