6 F/ T1 S* D; I+ t6 u" aIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
% q6 |1 X) a7 `4 t* c8 j( L& v# CPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. # M2 l- e9 w- ^: w7 K4 U8 x, R
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. % M& D& G% j* n; h
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
! w% V h" e5 j0 q7 N8 @Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
3 u9 b4 o) s1 V: L; g. eMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
7 z+ h2 f1 E1 E2 O1 JExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
& X5 [3 A$ z1 k( A D4 M5 CEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 2 E0 U9 U5 P( L" s7 A" s9 G4 q
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. " R3 i+ L1 h0 B- r) X' {) f. `
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
& {- [( Z$ g/ K5 ?Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. ( ?* v0 c+ U% J6 O8 g* a. Q& x( v
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. / u% c [# ?) ]8 t' P
Qualifications
) A4 m# E: u% A& _3 ?A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
f; Y9 z- {5 }7 G/ D) ]9 HPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 0 d. G, C9 I: B0 _
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. + X8 b7 U% g2 g% T+ d* n4 U
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ' C% N9 ^6 f: m U
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ' b; K$ N9 O& H
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. ( V- U0 e1 C+ z! Z" B3 ?1 x
