Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and + h. |+ d8 o% ?% B6 @5 I
execution of the YWCA Strategy

7 J! j: {8 [0 ~+ T7 B  U3 s0 O' k* FSpecific responsibilities include:  
! ]+ E' h5 u5 F2 O; q 9 `' C! @" V) N2 S  q% @2 Z
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 7 ?5 t0 c! S. M  R: w& `$ H: U
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by . {$ \6 A# P2 @
the Board of Directors;  % F5 Q' }8 ~* c6 C/ c% P
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
+ {+ D9 h! x0 _5 [" Q' H$ Bincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
9 R. _* i8 r/ y9 Senable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
, s: `# {3 e* k* |+ ?, I' J- B•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 L, Y4 f0 I3 D+ G. s
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
7 x; E7 c1 F4 y/ ~: X5 E, Zthe board;  
% T- [4 u6 O8 p, T$ x•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
' }- h3 G6 Q# X: U1 ]. e•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion / C6 s7 m/ Y, e/ M. |1 ?
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
6 b% N1 o# \( p* Q7 ]% E# E! H•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the : N6 t. g9 B5 C' e$ E
changing needs of the organization and community;
2 y4 u3 C; n' n' I•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
- u( J: L; i! Q" {) X6 ^) f, M# Fcommitments; * L. F- ^$ V, p; J4 a
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;    w3 y/ g1 e3 ~8 t8 S  ~& b0 }
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
% R4 m, t# D; K1 @selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
/ r) B% g- F$ c* Z6 w8 x" \0 s•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
! D& Z) b/ g- \0 B* q* G# j, u•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
* d1 U7 n- w; Z. D" _effectively and positively represent the association; 4 a; [) L# P6 f0 _# K- ~5 `
7 I* e0 }- D3 u8 {/ O" h: y: S
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring , W6 Q) m% @. N" Y5 ~0 T
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
4 n- F, v0 d5 ~) D•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ) K! r2 A! h! J* b7 O7 ~
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
% ~  s& k! I" S, G4 Z. h' nthe forthcoming year;  
+ x- E3 Y2 ?8 R2 a+ F/ W# F* z$ P/ I* I•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical / t& I7 ~( U) N- z; y: ]( P3 E) r
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 4 m6 L+ |; V) ~: ~; p
YWCA Canada; and 3 H" t5 H: v( F3 t
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
- ~' J, Y9 P' N( p5 ?. k7 \Forces.

# V* T; ?! g* k3 `2 N, Z: E5 jRequired Skills & Abilities 9 M4 r3 Q: o# |' y- H
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
5 h. [% \$ l$ T( ]1 v+ G* P•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
6 S) O! K7 e: Uaround decisions, plans and actions;
  S+ |! {' A( t•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; , @9 I& F: ^; t. }  W
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable ( w5 p4 W, S/ {. c
and achievable with realistic timeframes; , l) ?* B. v- {2 }% `
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
7 Y' I  m$ z( F9 Lsimultaneously; , N7 Z4 R- s8 U+ f  J
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build / @  ?: ^( v. R" g9 I$ I' Y1 I. j
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; / c0 z. D  V) w, \
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
) D. G" A, M& w. P0 K- F% |•  Superior negotiation skills. / A7 u& A, `( W" O! p/ m

7 U" D  _7 F  s7 z2 _ Required Professional Designation / Certification 6 P, d; y! E: g9 y% _: o7 V* _
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
/ e6 T* H; \- F' h, Q
4 t! h5 e9 v7 A7 h6 }/ ^. e# jRequired Experience ' c* p) t: T  {* P# }% x7 u
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
# K- M5 P4 p/ n$ E•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
# ^) X8 P7 m+ w3 N+ D7 Aabilities; ; t2 J; r+ a  M) u# u
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
# v' k# T7 R0 \% a, [# C; ]. w8 bNetworking and Fundraising; 7 l9 @+ O* w5 Z1 m# q$ u  m& Z
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
' ]6 l! v! L' T7 Y* uand financial statements; and
6 i. \( n$ n9 s: K. j•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
8 X, W/ Z9 f) {centered perspective.
