What Makes Christmas Magical

During the Christmas season, summer and its body-conscious state of mind " A8 E. `4 j' l9 t1 G, F7 X
are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas # U8 [, E! j% N) ^2 o4 }+ v
therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
( f8 ~- |$ {6 N) e1 Wpleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
( k+ |9 p* n# J# q+ L7 y$ T0 Y. Keat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can
4 F/ }/ k+ v# K* {/ q( }smartly avoid it?
8 C, R+ R% n. Z% y?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out + `. h) I  m/ J% g8 j
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
6 s. p4 R' K; U. s1 Sto be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
' `8 C8 U% `5 ^; f! D0 M' ]8 P; d6 O. z2 ^moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
0 x) Z& y& C+ S$ f* EBudget.'

to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may ! K' }3 S, r! j  q
risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
! s- f9 ~, E  P) M* @1 ibe something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies " }4 M, j) l# w8 B; ]" _- m* n4 j
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
: ?, z6 `" i+ f/ {especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more
" Y" a$ X% V1 ^- {/ frelaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
* M8 W, L8 i/ n/ J* M?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to 1 s9 J; T# U+ P1 ^  S
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with ' v* g& f7 c% q# k6 s4 G* w' G
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, & \! S! m5 {4 Z0 e$ w
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
$ \% c# r1 i1 [" R7 E+ Ctell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
. V1 W8 k$ T. z1 qplay. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will
/ N- b6 x8 c! Abe watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
7 k( z6 O1 e  o, A5 Ca cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are
+ i) b& V5 i6 C# iheartily enjoying the holiday treats.? ! g1 Q- u6 N2 n" }& ?
?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies
. V, v0 ~# c6 x) w- l, Z% Pand candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
  u$ ]. M. u3 Q/ u- rhealthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down + h/ j0 l5 A: E* N
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate ' S, `' t9 r. q9 ~: o
candies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies.
$ h; n- C7 A. d4 uIt's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

$ g$ |* d! [' i0 RDinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating
' e% h' ~* g! h' ron a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected . _' y* W  m- V7 l# R. o
should be carefully watched. - j" A; c( E: S* r- z- r
At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
3 W! Q. j8 e& Z  `4 ythe selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted, . d. @  C9 J7 t+ ?4 K) M
then do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is

during Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely,air max tn, one
