provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. 8 k: D3 @% \, E0 S8 k' H' C
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, , h$ N5 `# K6 q7 g, ]+ _7 A. q
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social 1 }) P& s' n+ _
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as 0 e; {% I0 @+ ^0 Y
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for * z+ m" e/ ?% ^7 g
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. / _5 |5 g7 m' S% S' ], r
Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.

Qualification

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and u s8 K: x0 ] }1 A
experience in Social Work or related human service fields. & U7 r2 g) g& K. X! a. Q8 ^) y0 J& U
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
+ c+ }# g0 C& ^* }1 g1 R% G2 c8 osupport needs
' b! c, u/ |2 D8 W3 Q# V Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
6 d& T, ^, j) f- P Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
