FUNCTION:
8 M$ t9 W" E! V, |As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

# S9 L7 Y! p& r, b1 A* ?: M' n- vDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
. j% o( S' \0 z6 H+ n• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
! c2 A5 d4 m, n+ ]Bi /Reporting/ETL
$ |( }2 w' `5 q9 w+ ^* ~8 Y• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
! i# M- \# G2 L' M• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
" ]0 G, d& Z: w0 I. L' u• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
! J7 D2 z1 m1 T# w  p• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
# F2 f7 d& }* r( ]9 t• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

+ j5 b8 T8 J  ~  n( t, G% rSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
1 m5 w# c1 E( \• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
& p$ F. {( G5 K• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
4 d, s$ {" w  K" ?0 t, x0 M/ l• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
$ F% f/ z  @3 K• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
; l- _1 I0 \1 X% f& g• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
' u& I: f4 n7 x- v. e' m# a• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
