FUNCTION:
! r4 \4 }) n2 ?/ q, \$ M  SAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
: _' _5 ~# E  y! V0 d• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
) o5 y  i1 z) |$ S4 C' I. n. Y• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

3 f5 n7 h, H, a; l% Q. e; J' a4 \0 T• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
) o, X+ i1 N8 U3 f0 G  V0 B• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
3 B& @5 Z+ V; a8 i, T  K• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
. l4 |7 ]* ~) D/ a* h( J8 P• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
/ @$ ]$ ^6 `  ?5 U- Q7 y7 U• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
5 f$ i  M. R; |* ~  `5 r3 C• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
8 F' }2 i4 ]0 q+ A& _( E6 \• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
4 b0 q4 T6 X% U7 ^+ K2 ]• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
" p2 q/ H5 |! K2 M. T• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
