Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

' Z/ |) ]# v4 _+ V8 i. P+ H Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
 Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
: T2 Z0 _* w0 ^" ^& {! m- ]/ U Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
& A: J) |3 N0 b8 d( P8 S Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
: L$ T8 @5 c7 `; J& S# S Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

8 L* q; _) y! J3 S/ E; b8 e Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
2 ~7 O3 K* S0 b1 |7 u2 N Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
9 y5 C$ X* w) s) p; g- @ Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
1 _1 c+ C8 k1 x" Z# C Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
