Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
% y0 N/ f& E  R  ^( w Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
. g4 ^( k0 B0 c, _+ ?/ Q$ R Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
0 p% q  x# W( A Completing required paperwork.
: d( D7 h- U. J( L1 \" s( _# M Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
( O% m( w) J2 A" L Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
$ n- G# M- \- J) h) f7 v Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
5 Y6 ?; G4 q/ [ Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
( O5 `, }, P' Z: |8 c Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
6 K, r/ i$ p4 W" N5 [ Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
; s% G3 F1 S9 F, B# j Knowledge of community resources.
8 x# V$ R6 L& S; |6 U$ t  M# P3 y Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
- m' l, F1 c+ K. k Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
