Responsibilities
 Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
% ^8 o- C0 [& E, |0 {. t; j Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
! u* {5 _' u5 U; k Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
# P: T* o" G: a" }5 t, ] Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
 Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
1 x0 Y) C% |* k, c: m$ C3 B Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

 Social work degree or diploma
% Y, Z. k$ O/ `: f6 b7 V Current RSW designation preferred   
+ L. _8 ^* @7 @4 p Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
 Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
( i  O' o0 Z+ G Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
  ?0 \0 _1 P/ u1 s. M" ?/ f Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
$ Z* v  Z' a3 b Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
