A woman found slain in her Capilano bungalow was a pipefitter who had lived in the southside neighbourhood for a couple of years, say neighbours.

" j% `6 t/ P: A+ R. BEdmonton police assured residents that they had no reason to be fearful, but officers did ask neighbours for their shoe sizes and vital stats during a canvass of the area.5 D' ?8 Z# M4 Q+ w' x: B
1 s1 M, S* T6 x6 B“They (police) asked us what size shoes we wore and how tall we were and our weight,” said a woman who lives across the street from the crime scene but didn’t want her name published.

“It’s upsetting. But we’re not too worried,” she added, noting police told them that there “wasn’t anything for us to be concerned about.”

Lynn Gregory, vice-president of the Capilano Community League, was surprised to hear about the ongoing homicide investigation.

) V9 {* M: S$ g2 N6 R: B# |3 l“We get the odd B-and-E and car theft around here, but other than that, not too much (crime),” she said.

The slain woman, whose name has not been released, is the city’s 24th homicide victim of 2010.
