Edmonton police assured residents that they had no reason to be fearful, but officers did ask neighbours for their shoe sizes and vital stats during a canvass of the area.

9 d. g1 \" h. ^/ q: ^" Z“They (police) asked us what size shoes we wore and how tall we were and our weight,” said a woman who lives across the street from the crime scene but didn’t want her name published.

Thurlow and Marg Essington, who have lived in the neighbourhood for 35 years, could see the police forensics vehicle from their front window just a few houses away.

Lynn Gregory, vice-president of the Capilano Community League, was surprised to hear about the ongoing homicide investigation.

“We get the odd B-and-E and car theft around here, but other than that, not too much (crime),” she said.
