Edmonton police assured residents that they had no reason to be fearful, but officers did ask neighbours for their shoe sizes and vital stats during a canvass of the area.9 i5 Z- i V) o" q2 R. d

“They (police) asked us what size shoes we wore and how tall we were and our weight,” said a woman who lives across the street from the crime scene but didn’t want her name published.( R% Q+ j! ]& X4 b' M. Q; N+ w

Thurlow and Marg Essington, who have lived in the neighbourhood for 35 years, could see the police forensics vehicle from their front window just a few houses away.

The slain woman, whose name has not been released, is the city’s 24th homicide victim of 2010.
