A woman found slain in her Capilano bungalow was a pipefitter who had lived in the southside neighbourhood for a couple of years, say neighbours.

) ]2 ^: }8 R' pEdmonton police assured residents that they had no reason to be fearful, but officers did ask neighbours for their shoe sizes and vital stats during a canvass of the area.

“They (police) asked us what size shoes we wore and how tall we were and our weight,” said a woman who lives across the street from the crime scene but didn’t want her name published.

The middle-aged victim lived alone, neighbours said.

Thurlow and Marg Essington, who have lived in the neighbourhood for 35 years, could see the police forensics vehicle from their front window just a few houses away.

“We get the odd B-and-E and car theft around here, but other than that, not too much (crime),” she said.
