Applicants to ETIP can apply for funding to attend the program through

The Alberta economy has a high demand for skilled workers in the

Alberta is home to many foreign-educated immigrant engineers. These
" k Q, P }2 y, X. x6 K- X9 aimmigrants are highly educated and experienced, yet many may find it
5 U! R, Y L K' V$ Y8 H+ Sdifficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not2 j: w% c1 R7 |

Integrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work( \$ ~7 u& I$ m1 |( [0 w
experience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or+ u' t0 T4 T- L+ s" c5 _( {; F
English as a Second Language.

The training components of ETIP assist participants in developing skills, p. Y) y$ X8 X8 O+ s3 D
required for the Alberta workplace. Training includes:

• job search and job management skills

Upon successful completion of ETIP, graduates are Technologist-in-Training3 T8 s' O; y% f4 u/ \: `

• ASET is a professional association that provides credential assessment

Each member of the ETIP partnership contributes their expertise in order to

Canadian workforce.
% ~. `& M* z; ^+ P5 k• ASET provides professional recognition of the qualifications of ETIP; a7 P8 C4 I% v. I2 R+ R: v3 }
graduates.
g% A& _! ?7 W1 UWhat is the evidence of success?' l6 A$ R |6 L7 R' B+ k
As of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have$ y% @, F W/ K5 }' d
found engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.
( G* u6 X" y+ AIn 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of
5 o3 G! p" R8 c2 x" I/ ^graduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,
% ]" V; M' w0 M" K2 Owith over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.
