Beginning in 1995, ETIP:

• helps participants develop the skills and recognition needed to work as ]1 `% E& @" s( s, P1 \
an engineer or engineering technologist in Alberta:

difficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not

English as a Second Language.

The training components of ETIP assist participants in developing skills

• The program addresses both the needs of foreign-educated engineer

• EMCN recruits for ETIP and has a strong relationship with the
# v* i0 G1 V" e( y6 d1 ]+ s( wEdmonton immigrant community.# @# N+ ?7 U3 g
• NAIT delivers engineering technologist education applicable to the
* n- \2 O) ^4 [8 t7 B( O: zCanadian workforce.1 |# k" j9 N% C B
• ASET provides professional recognition of the qualifications of ETIP4 b; J5 D/ E2 p5 X1 U8 ~! z
graduates.

As of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have' i# C) b* H( N7 e' c' j2 d3 T- _
found engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.
$ h/ o* V) o7 v4 F gIn 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of4 s+ Y, J4 }2 `3 M9 N" p
graduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,
% }7 B- O6 y$ u' L, ?' [with over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.' W1 s( k. C& \9 N+ |$ M7 i
