difficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not/ M7 t1 ^8 v0 B3 X* e
recognize their international experience or credentials.

0 t, ^* d: ?( tIntegrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work

The ETIP program involves four phases:

The training components of ETIP assist participants in developing skills! \ c, g/ h9 Z9 N# L
required for the Alberta workplace. Training includes:

• engineering-related training delivered at NAIT:! [3 g+ p' x% L" g
􀂉 450 hours of in-class time

• computer training.

immigrants and the shortage of engineering technologists in the

Canadian workforce.

graduates.

. {6 X- o+ h1 k# i0 C" hAs of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have
2 y! o3 Z0 k- H( Ufound engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.
8 S0 k" }1 h" A3 OIn 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of
% d* F- ^9 D ^" Y; R! D( vgraduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,% o- Q3 H/ z# e/ z
with over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.8 W1 j5 e+ l, U, {3 ^% x# [6 @
