Volunteer Job Description

Duration of Commitment:Summer T.A.N.G. Youth Program
Camp 1 – July 04 – July 14
Camp 2 – July 31 – August 11 (must attend an overnight camp on August 10 to 11)

Place: ASSIST Community Services Centre

Program Coordinator:        Daniel SUEN

Duties:
To assist the T.A.N.G. Youth Program Coordinator by providing clerical and/or activities support in the followings:

 Distribution of promotion flyers to schools, churches, communities and relevant social agencies and professionals
 Take attendance if available
 Provide positive modelling to youth
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breaking games and/or other activities
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
 Research activities related to the session’s topic upon advice of the Program Coordinator
; G/ u# \! n0 x" ?7 C1 u Watch out on the safety of youth either in centre or fieldtrips
 Report to the Program Coordinator for any doubts or concerns and/or any troubleshoot behaviour
 Act according to the guidance or direction of the Program Coordinator
9 y- N9 ?$ |7 D4 T- B Must follow guidelines or procedures stipulated in the manual/training
 Attend debriefing sessions/ongoing training
' b' ]. }% g' T& G Assist in program planning/design
 Any other program related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator

Attitude/Skills Requirements

* z$ K) r; o3 V+ D2 r% b+ V1 b8 M Mature, sensible, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction
 Be open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youths in the program, or youth who is matched on an one-on-one basis
 A team player, can get along well with other staff & volunteers
4 j4 m# N9 _8 }) u  i Concentrate efforts in the group session or activities over other distractions
 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
( [4 a! r, R6 [" P. l6 _: b. p2 h' a- w: n Value building on strengths in children, youth and families
 Able to get along with youth and/or youth who might at risk
1 y* h3 s0 @" a( R3 G& C1 E Certain proficiency in English and Chinese
