YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
- f0 f. s/ u; y8 ~& hnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
* x  r" _: _' |7 ?' G4 Y8 npeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
3 l4 S* y/ V" u1 C6 Z/ c) _% EThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
/ D5 r1 S9 k% W: ?# l& F* ?3 q
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
( {( ^6 P# I8 z# Hthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
; Y# O3 [7 Z9 |3 z8 iAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

9 q, G( [0 C5 |* B! TVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
