YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
  `5 ~8 u) |8 e0 hnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
7 v& E9 ^, V. }6 _" B1 Q- }peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
9 }5 w' X% z% z/ O* \, gThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
6 s" e' m5 s# l, [* S" @the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
& m$ I5 k( f6 ^) }) _participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
4 O9 s7 k: @0 L: w3 upersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
% q& C  p$ j' D2 kAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
! l# O: q0 ?* Q& g# l6 z. Xfollow-up once the program is completed.

) z# |& M+ ~. R; [$ JVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
