7 t. p% y* R4 _; TYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
' T) L/ b# x" ^8 F% l+ {1 q9 kAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
7 H8 ^! ]' X6 y/ O5 q/ k5 B# Snine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
; F7 p% I6 x- t/ A- NThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
3 p7 d. p/ t# g$ Z2 `' I* x9 w
5 ]! q1 G7 q- n$ H3 `; u$ Yproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
6 |2 _7 Y- [9 l, Tthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
/ b, z) {5 Y# n" V/ ]& G' n3 Hparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
* ?5 h# C; g9 l6 w* w4 z! PAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
