Dose anyone knows why the vinyl sidings are always installed horizontally rather than vertically? Is it because of insulation? Sometimes at certain areas, vertical-looking siding do add appeal and value to the house.

I don't think the terms "[vinyl] siding" and "appeal" should appear in the same sentence.
if you look at the bottom of a piece vinyl siding panel, you will find some small holds for water to drip off. Also, the interlocking system works better if they were installed horizontally. ( ]; ?: l% f8 B$ m! T7 V* m M4 p9 D3 B. I( h
Depends on the material and labour; price for vinyl and stucco gets very close. Personally I like vinyl siding better because I don't like to see the cracks on stucco.
