Job Description: P! J1 ~; N% L- j: u, K6 r
• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
7 B/ M; ?! u5 ^• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
0 G) \5 n8 x0 C• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers+ C% ^6 n7 M! S9 v5 O3 j1 e+ F5 G
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams. D/ t& F, v4 A
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place5 @1 p) |+ @% Q
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
2 z4 S: G' u8 W8 J) B: A6 l6 U• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
/ g) `, F( ] G• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting: |% k. g4 E. A
• Mix paint, blend and match colors
5 s0 F4 n. r5 {, L0 ?/ e• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
2 [" |. V9 H3 e• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
8 b# ~" z z3 h0 n4 F• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation7 j* Q2 `" ^# c" A) f
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling, \7 T6 {# b& R( t; p0 ?
Education and Experience Requirements:
% D$ r$ R* a2 S e. |• Completion of secondary school is required' i% T, v& t' M: ^8 d" O
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 6 h+ A; n+ ?. f# J' {/ Y
or
$ s4 C1 ]) l( {9 O: _9 GA combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
; i. Q1 m: B& X' L5 v1 }5 j! X' ~• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory ' Z& [4 i" F" ?) N9 R5 o, _$ A" {# b
