Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression- L' Y H2 ]$ M1 f' M n/ N) T: y

now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.36 y" k0 H2 i/ d: V4 i
megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution- K* ?, r+ F% E; j3 _3 ?
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color* _' x4 F# M) O* k
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance3 ?6 M& m$ v# G* P/ o# W I
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
; p, A! p5 S" @* O" dallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
) m) F6 e: |) j0 I& `without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography

widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
% z9 W: ]( O$ aconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown5 M3 z/ U W: F0 | k" m1 _
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,- ?6 O, W3 `7 Z$ I
thanks to the D800.1 j- _* [# Q% l8 C) k
When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,# G" k3 ?$ Q9 m
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic% v5 b8 A* j2 E' o! W. C" e5 E
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces' c+ e7 h; o) _6 @
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
5 T k% g# H& c3 o" S& @D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
0 k) J0 D3 { _' z" ]* Q4 T5 v5 Iwell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
" M) F; ] X: \, A$ Z/ l' bAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
& \) U; w* f4 U; yhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
( b0 u+ |# {" Z: N m weasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while8 [+ v* Y( k$ i; q9 q% S
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New4 [9 z( R" W- \, p% f/ j
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features2 ~$ u% q# z% W6 b* h- g0 E
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
2 Z9 M% z' Y! [4 ]prints and video.
" ?7 `. s0 O! ^2 K1 W% eTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is9 f$ v6 a. n1 J5 u4 \ m4 z
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models7 b* @' `% c5 r3 N
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
' c5 z7 D4 f e+ fcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first2 q/ x+ ^: s: \: F1 j- u
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
; g }* N& r( W' N0 I( `' n" ]# dlike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
- |/ }- `7 N/ a6 W" }acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I V2 s A7 c u9 C) ]0 x$ y7 B+ `7 H# U
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as: a0 j7 Z% _9 m% |. t' w/ ^
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
# c5 C$ j4 X$ x7 K- h6 Ephotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
9 M6 u- F3 m( ~) Z) ^% itremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the# ?: i3 Q! }5 B/ b0 k: S! D0 p
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express9 P$ n9 W9 A! Z+ j# r0 o9 L
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.
$ L7 A) G% c2 e$ }2 H4 Q1 {As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,/ A7 X* v' X" I- Z
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal; T: J9 b4 p, q" g! v
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for

, ], S! r4 T3 i* \architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they5 w4 H/ `( L" s8 F( A( q" Y4 Y
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly1 Z9 T" |2 R3 ~
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
