% l& V T6 s6 e, T" S0 \4 a- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment ' p9 Y: `, U9 I; C5 e1 w0 A2 q1 }
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
, r9 L( N1 K) g+ X R7 a: O- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines, v" H9 C- e% ^, d' P) H$ j6 u
- Select type and size of pipe required
3 r- F( Z" u7 q' _- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools/ |+ {: e) T5 p% v
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system* @ {& s5 l6 Z9 s; j$ F" Q& }/ P$ {
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
+ g6 T t7 U+ F0 }) w `% W2 L4 u- Test system for leaks using testing equipment. c0 X1 _+ v9 a1 i& B( K
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system( S- O3 R$ e0 l* K2 i
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business7 c0 Y& K' b3 N: P

- Completion of secondary school
8 i u" Y' J. C5 p/ k- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation $ U: A9 ]+ A. b, y* p& T
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

) n4 N9 t) D, x- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset& L7 v2 _6 Y Q) B9 @
