) _; p& o- n' L" Y9 m# r# G- ~) Z# w# |, u9 k* O
        1. I couldn't care less. 2 D# _. c& a% O/ f9 z* h8 S3 W8 n

I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: 6 |2 J$ H7 e4 M9 D( |* j
) A& L7 Y/ r, V$ t( j8 x& T! [
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) , X7 l1 t2 |6 D5 }) L3 L! r' S' b) e; r
  E7 ~2 Q& J1 g2 o2 a9 F/ ^. w
  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) / _6 `" ?' y$ q, F. X  {: X8 ~
/ w1 \1 m. G$ W: c, v
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
" P. D) X& U+ N* a$ T# p& H% o6 C  X
- U# s8 D+ F" |  }: g  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) ( W/ L9 K( {' i" W& q6 M3 j
" N* r3 B6 M( m7 U3 L

6 J+ m  I4 q1 M. e  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) ; q) y( U. K* M8 G" j( @
- y/ J6 c7 K* a1 `
Yes, you do(care). - H) r, \, e. J# U0 h7 Q1 o' U

2 Y4 }( {: b# j0 d7 n( j! B; V  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
$ @6 e  p' D8 b3 z9 ?& k7 i8 d: s! U& ?  g  ^9 r7 V1 [4 [& I8 g$ u
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
6 J2 d; s+ n3 O6 t- m. l$ `+ \) S# R. V
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) # [4 |6 g7 V- U# l

5 `6 v# @( s) g% x6 g7 {* ]  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
+ l7 C: ~) e$ J: w) x
R1 J$ F8 P5 }1 i
7 F& Z& ], S7 n# M" o
  I couldn't be more wrong.
: h2 f! \9 W/ G& D" l2 f
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
! |: N8 E+ f8 q/ V+ }
4 \7 k7 y' B5 Y+ ^  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
) s, {1 `$ Q) z$ w8 [5 R+ i/ r( V" K1 ~
  2. No bones about it.
( m' W) v& }8 _. F* n* @  b" k  t- Q' k* j  p
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
2 ?: N2 F# z4 L8 `1 l
, O% z' G7 U: \  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
2 a# n. K) z0 b: m# @/ {
/ `: e6 O' i) F) M  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) " ]/ D3 J" s$ C& a0 P5 ~

  p( u; ^6 n2 a! ^* D; H( L$ t  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
/ E7 b6 g/ P4 P/ O& R4 n% l, S% x; I. ^( K/ f
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) 7 A4 v1 J) S) Q9 T: C. r

, G4 h( B; {9 l% g  3. take it on me!
) c. M- B1 c0 H& b+ a& e; ^9 H2 L
; z. E: F, b6 ^7 F$ E- F  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: 0 M) A% s" }' U( V

3 U3 o9 [. ?, s9 }+ h* G, ~  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) 8 y4 I9 j( ^& I. A. U% n: ]9 I! C
+ Q" x7 ]+ f! A1 u$ N
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." - j+ t. M. k. X/ r0 w2 \

2 n  _8 X; o  h8 k2 O  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) * t. h( f! X* d" {: h

. {# G2 k% O9 a: O6 s  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。
; q/ |' F3 J0 f% |. O
: y% ~; }4 l" {4 i3 r. ~" o  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
, b2 h5 Q- e0 _' h; W. n. e8 H" C5 t9 F, c3 I( E& ]
  4. I am from Missouri. / u3 {, x! V2 ?6 K1 n
% ~0 Y. n( A6 d  G8 z
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
, Z) ~) k/ }  ^& \( y, R4 R  k8 h1 y5 O

9 a+ @9 z7 T: Q; l  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
. g8 [; o8 r( O5 p5 _
. T  O0 ]2 u+ Q: D  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) 7 d/ A$ {- c; [' F( J" x

* \3 v' k; s6 W$ {6 a; ]/ t  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
1 ~1 [. X2 X, T; m8 [# V
; ^/ |3 m# C" G6 C3 k! ]  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith先生是位倔强的人,他一定是来自密苏里州。)
