) c3 v: }1 m7 a/ j, u5 @- [! QExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall! Z% O; L& x9 r, P( \: j' _
not do any of the following:
8 v9 U4 t0 l: U% O(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor3 s, q6 {; s9 \$ m" k; N# P' H
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
) S; n5 p0 {; z4 ~# X# o$ v) i: k(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor, M7 L9 j( y( c t9 E' n2 N
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;% J: T% m w, {. S
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,+ [8 I/ v( ^3 j+ }- a
permit another person
, v3 p% L/ X' I3 E" N(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
3 R! [5 O ~* U6 {5 N7 ]& p(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,/ Q7 X$ T5 t$ \! [3 ~# z
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;3 o. O9 [) _0 B/ g
(d) give or lend a financial9 q# d+ M k9 N' x1 ~' T
responsibility card or a copy of it
! j4 x) s; }2 k% Y4 ~to a person not entitled to have that financial
4 \+ L, H) L* _# Vresponsibility card or copy.

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway3 U9 v( m8 y- V
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
& ? V$ F" H. y3 Pthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection5 g, l4 A# R7 |( w* a
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is/ C0 k) |; b: I. ]; {' R
not an insured motor vehicle.9 e1 l) r" I9 P

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this G& ?8 P8 P# ~
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this
. G: |# d, e2 H. _. n7 j, ], c& Jsection.

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
( f3 G0 c% R) U! S. }& y- \financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
% O# L+ }( ^0 y g; EInsurance Act2 G4 Y5 E8 Z5 ^# Q9 x! s
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
8 R. ~% l$ P6 b) d/ Q Zoutside Alberta.- t9 T" T: }3 a
(4)2 l7 V7 E! L& W; s @7 s' y
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection1 J8 [* q7 n8 t( y/ z) V1 d& `+ `
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,2 l8 r, x* }3 e
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
2 D' ?- r% b" k0 \: g# E5 ~: Yand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
8 e* o p) {2 _imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
9 A) x8 E5 X" y i8 Bmore than 6 months
5 o5 i+ j1 f, ^7 {4 _, ]/ q
Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
