EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.8 `4 e7 a1 g |5 g8 } ^
, Q) u6 c6 Q, hThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.' S- R6 p/ _# M+ ]
) E# ]" @/ g( D8 G k; U* DPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.4 N& m. C( {0 g
) h4 A& v+ j0 v0 l% @"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
