The Alberta Tories continue to slide, while the NDP surges and the Wildrose maintains the lead, according to the latest election poll released Tuesday morning.1 d% n/ K: C5 U! A7 s
/ ~7 r: C5 _8 r1 VThe NDP is dominating Edmonton at 51%, according to the survey, and is in a three-way race in Calgary.
" G$ N/ Y' v' |+ j* e; ?: L, X/ K0 L7 r$ L E& [+ j
The telephone poll of 3,121 Albertans conducted Monday showed that compared to a week earlier:1 X' S( p+ X; n! S9 a8 p1 s
/ i. T1 p! K4 a* v# I5 sWildrose is flat with 24% support7 w$ Z1 z' m: @4 C6 j( N
NDP increased to 23% support, up 3%! R9 G8 y( G0 }
The PCs dropped to 18%, down 3%

The Alberta Party is up a point to 3%( t2 F- r) c7 B- j B: V' @. k+ R
The survey was conducted by Mainstreet Technologies.

“One thing is becoming clear at this stage of the campaign, the effect of the budget and residual anger to the governing PCs will have a lasting impact on the outcome of this election,” said Mainstreet’s Quito Maggi.; N) M* I U/ ~" G1 l9 Q% X' ?6 Q$ D
' e- y& C" s0 d( v0 w, g- H“Although the Wildrose continue to lead, their support is flat and may have no room to grow. The NDP are definitely contenders and have the momentum.”

Maggi said there is still time for the Tories to swing momentum as, with nearly three weeks before the May 5 vote, “more and more people will be paying attention.”% v8 X6 q% c7 u0 F$ W1 h. Z

“The window of opportunity for that correction is closing quickly,” Maggi noted.

He said the election could turn into a two-way race between the NDP and Wildrose, leaving the possibility Tories shift votes to the Wildrose, or vice versa, to stifle NDP momentum.1 A, q7 O0 Z" {0 y1 _
+ r0 S3 b2 Y; R+ pThe NDP showed a whopping 51% support in Edmonton, to the Tory’s 21% and and Wildrose 10%.5 A5 p( y, O$ X

It’s a three-way race in Calgary (WR 29%, PC 27%, NDP 25%).

The poll's margin of error is +/- 1.76%, 19/20
