  }8 i( R. t9 z& K3 X) `: Y　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

. ~# ^' B9 _7 c* K2 t　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　Both sides of the Great Wall

　　One single white immensity.

1 n( c" c/ b* J% ]　　The Yellow River"s swift current

　　Is stilled from end to end.

　　The mountains dance like silver snakes
# R8 P" Y9 X* K
　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

9 U: _! [; F+ P　　Vying with heaven in stature.

% R; S6 j9 c* H1 C: T% j% O' x　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

2 ~; x; B0 }  ]8 F　　Grows more enchanting.

2 i- H. Z2 t/ ~5 e  t' j* \　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

. V2 c1 }6 Q5 L* j3 p( c　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

　　All are past and gone!
