今天写给爱城老留学生联谊会的帖子

  U$ L1 K' i) j: B7 O& S+ vChristmas and the New Year is fast approaching, by next week, many people will start the  holiday  season conversation by saying Christmas and New Year is around the corner. What do you always do on Christmas day and New Year's day. For my family, we always go to a small town or village outside of Edmonton or some places that are not very far away from Edmonton, for example, Gull Lake , a lake full of life in summer and  frozen solid in the winter, covered with a foot of snow. We normally take a walk around the old church in the downtown area, watch the beautiful decorations and the joyful Christmas Manger scene with figurines including Jesus, Mary, Joseph, sheep and magi. After the church visit, we would take a long walk in the downtown area, enjoy the  tranquility of a small rural Alberta town. Our hearts filled with peace and happy, it is wonderful. It is also a moment to reflect on the year past and feel  fortunate and grateful that we live in Canada.

2 g1 u( ~$ w% E8 \* e/ ]New Year's day , 2015,  we were in Morinville , a small town  located 34 km (21 mi) north of Edmonton on Highway 2. I snapped some pictures, and would like to share with you. We could feel the spirit of pioneers when we were there, and I would like to remind everybody in this chat group that as 老留学生, we are pioneers too.

Gentlemen, don't feel lonely, renew your Pioneer Spirit, come out and join the  conversation , share something with members of our group.

Friend, don't be discouraged，always think positively, you can do it. You live in Canada, you are surrounded by English speaking Canadians. You are a smart person, otherwise,  you wouldn't be in Canada. Remember how hard for our Chinese to come to Canada, you are here, you have achieved  so much!

朋友， 不要气馁，积极点， 你能掌握英语。 你生活在加拿大，周围都是讲英语的加拿大人。你是聪明人，否则， 你来不了加拿大。来加拿大对我们中国人来说是多么难啊！ 你来了，你一步跨过了太平洋，你是不畏艰难的人。在某些方面，你可能比书呆子们强多啦！

朋友, 挣工资吃饭的都是打工仔，哈伯总理说， 他自己就是个打工仔。打工仔靠劳动吃饭，有什么不好，总比在中国当贪官心里踏实吧。你不要看不起打工仔。我在中国是可以当个小官的，但在这儿，一辈子就是个打工仔，在这儿打工，至少可以不呼吸雾霾空气吧。在这打工也不容易呀，英语说不好，打工人家也不愿意要。

人不论年龄/才干/学识有多大，最先有的应是自知之明。随着年岁增长，身体可能不象年轻时健壮，但精神应更加sharp才对。老百姓都知道“四十不惑、五十天命、六十耳顺”
