Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
. B% s5 V- O R \. dPolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.0 `! {% w C% n7 C! U+ n' `; Q
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.1 h8 u8 M& t0 H
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.( ]8 b+ L( N l* Q. ^" h
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
