society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
/ g/ L$ Z8 g  O9 I) \ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
/ C: X& P' t# I+ t1 K5 ^: H! eorganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

% F& w  a+ l! n( tPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
. b1 `. A) j5 Vnon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
+ c1 N$ M6 `+ y5 r) |+ L) E, oworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
4 E+ j+ ]5 _; z& q* K* \vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
" `6 ]  ]7 g$ q! \arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
- K1 V) B7 D' s$ t: M% X! Xmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
9 M% A! T' s7 ~+ [to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
) \0 d0 q8 _. }1 y% @( l3 Mthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
* _1 V7 W; L3 A7 @# m* k! Bdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
& p8 q: U9 t2 O8 g- B0 qthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
/ m4 }  S, s- Y3 }0 d' @3 ~  \that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
6 M$ u6 Z% k+ v; u+ m# j% {9 e% h$ @payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
4 Y7 j3 t& J1 O- h- e+ s" |  N3 Qthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

+ H7 g* A; m& y- c& w: u' H8 `Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
8 n2 n, q0 K4 p" O! e& Hpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
. |) H) o% r% u  y3 C( a% a" \work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
