volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
3 U$ S, ]. w5 I* ipolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
4 D! m, B7 }. g7 A3 v6 Baffairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
; U. N/ X. ?7 c1 h. X; Kmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
7 G. v% K( b1 ^! I# p0 E0 Xto implement the organizational policies.
: B2 p; }: c  N, g4 r8 G3 `0 S
PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
" E+ E8 L9 T6 f6 |7 eservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

' h0 B# z) R* d% ~In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
6 r& @* \1 Z0 Rdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
1 L- V- ~- ~3 Y' lpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
/ g  m8 |/ r' s' i; w0 hthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
# h, `9 V' }# V! \including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
9 M$ V, w; t& h6 ?3 korganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
3 c8 e/ Q( T# Jmanaging projects and budgets.

7 V. X- D5 S7 ^; hPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
