The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
3 z1 B, _' g3 @8 }) h$ Band leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
( p* V6 j( k) v- ~works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
6 _$ A! a3 e1 Evision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
# m& Z8 [. H- ?: H" K# [/ yarrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
% \' U. Z4 F4 N8 R5 M4 ]- ]( ?$ xmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

; B1 }6 {% J4 a3 b) tPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
$ B$ [$ g2 O1 b6 D* F1 Yas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
6 }2 ?( y4 M) e/ @2 uthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

/ S. t% U, j9 p8 G3 f, k2 SIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
- p+ }7 W3 P+ M% C, `7 a- Ethat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
% E. i# K/ G1 Q; F7 Kincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
. H% |# r% U# Jorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
4 F$ u. g& K7 H) R1 S4 c; dwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.
& |6 ^, r" g  U; y* C% r  d4 `8 u
PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
0 p8 F2 a3 x" @1 K: Oprocesses an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
