" b# d" A7 v7 z* k1 ZEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes." f0 U5 m) V/ _- e7 {: i4 A* b1 p
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather * e9 I% m5 i5 L' z+ V- U1 ]7 s
and traffic conditions.

0 o' m" j* ~: b- ]- I* w• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
; I s/ C- v6 w% e" k( B# c• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
9 q( S( ?' N! {0 zto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger & x3 a1 E3 a5 A( e

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
2 @' e9 f0 O4 x0 `! x' }• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.3 T/ f% d f8 J
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
3 V% S9 A& X2 B. m• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
# m+ e: q0 ~" l6 a: e" K9 K0 Ishowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
, M3 {. k- s0 {) l- ?& A• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
" a* K: N& m- X8 n& z1 x: B4 e) Svideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

& ], a5 m1 u& a' _/ @* @' B" r• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly' x& n" U/ I+ q8 P
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly9 m' W0 ]" T1 _1 I7 T, X% T

Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
