Position title: Community Development Worker

5 k2 q8 A' b6 `6 ^, xPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community8 G* T, U* k3 y0 a0 T8 H( _
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services9 @( ~$ o, b" C/ C8 A& U7 I$ `
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services) W- R& E3 I1 \4 ?# K" {$ ?
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members% ]9 A+ v! q7 D$ v6 G
- submit information for community news , v. x0 r& v3 ~- k, ]
- prepare and send AGM information to members
( M2 R; Z6 _$ s$ T' n3 i- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.9 `+ L9 L; a/ @% D
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP( Q3 A7 O; y! L1 x
- explore new ideas for ISP

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required); d! A$ t1 ]7 P8 M, h4 g& n

Qualifications2 Z5 k: q6 G. Z, V
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education # ] L" P' M1 C0 ~ u; D n
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills( @6 [3 R4 M2 b+ i5 a
- experience in community work and immigrant services3 x/ S2 x1 ~0 _4 ]- M1 L
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
