Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 0 a1 [9 Q! ?/ \! f1 o' c

Job Description:
* I+ F5 y% Z+ Q3 i. X- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community8 {9 n2 `: N1 K
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
+ E3 ` N" s: ^" O3 m* j/ Z M( [ b) G; D- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
* U1 f' O$ }$ z' i/ C- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
: `: X3 V' H5 u0 U7 E' V/ T2 @- coordinate good will activities
* q. h. G1 y5 O+ P% l% }- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
+ X' P% j) ?4 T5 z0 U9 t7 ?- submit information for community news
v% d8 H3 ~. j& L- V M- prepare and send AGM information to members4 |2 K3 u; z9 Z% @) h/ H
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website! J& k8 c% @5 H" ~6 V7 l6 |) e: U
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre+ D/ S. f3 e) {7 K/ _* W
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
+ K: A* L$ a8 w- assist in writing proposal for ISP! w+ `: t# O# i1 q7 e. b
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP, _/ \- R: E: n: T: m4 X8 ~' j
- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications. W9 f. }6 m, Q$ u1 \6 T
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education . W2 u: W3 j& V5 b8 H" y2 y
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
: p; R" M6 v* O$ k- experience in community work and immigrant services
