Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

+ ?9 E V0 G4 H# x/ u3 T5 v- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
]4 P6 I, J J( n9 a9 m D) J- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services5 f% [* n2 @' k" x3 _) p
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members7 K( z% }' h& A: t& h% x
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.5 w) v' z7 E* }+ Q# p" I
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities; X8 ]8 S6 B: ?2 j
- update ASSIST website( B/ Z$ x; X* v: T! {. M
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre7 \9 {; Z! H$ k3 [/ r+ L
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services) l9 ]) c0 h8 Z! ]. n) ?+ M; a$ R
- assist in writing proposal for ISP1 T9 Y1 Y' N/ O! I" A* j0 C
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

$ v, K! o" [$ e" E- G0 z2 P7 C- hold regular meetings with ISP team, M7 E" D" w2 H3 q# y9 Y
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time/ @$ E. h" d, }% d. _6 t
- update membership database

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education & I6 Y9 c/ v0 X# X" P7 T$ p2 P5 D& s1 U
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
0 X9 s3 x/ ^4 O+ d- experience in community work and immigrant services
0 X; t% X1 y/ Z0 V9 j% s& [- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars% l7 F: A- a6 k. _* }2 M$ P
- leadership skills
