What activities will I do during my road test?

/ X: b* u$ x# W- DThe road test is about 25 to 30 minutes long, including instructions and feedback.

· how to do right and left turns legally and safely

The road test will run the full time unless the Examiner feels that your safety, or the safety of others, is at risk.6 H( m+ O( Q/ d3 |9 X% r
For example, if you do not show good judgment of time and distance when turning left in front of oncoming traffic,

· The Examiner will introduce him/herself and provide proof of identification, when requested.

and Driver Examination Regulation. They are monitored to ensure they provide high quality road2 c' B' s0 Q- @9 X, n
tests. They should be courteous and professional, keeping conversation at all times relevant to the

· You must have your Learner’s licence. If you have a temporary licence (non-photo)& r5 H, _6 t6 L0 E

· Wear clothing that is practical for driving and comfort. It should be appropriate for the

· Your vehicle must meet all legal requirements (good mechanical condition, valid
( k& B7 P4 F& ]3 a0 {0 ]* `insurance and registration) and have enough fuel for at least one hour of driving.

The Examiner will do a vehicle check with you. You will be in the driver’s seat and the examiner will ask you to4 |; G7 T5 q9 W& d: S4 x# s+ E- j, Q
assist in checking the signal and brake lights, horn, brakes, and steering. You will be asked to describe and
& |6 Y- h% r/ ^/ s$ {, A3 J/ b& Rdemonstrate two of the instruments or controls inside the vehicle, such as the hazard lights and windshield
/ H0 m% P+ o1 H3 E/ c# H( gwipers. The Examiner will provide information before you move the vehicle about the route and the instructions
$ y" S, e6 ~# `that you will be given during the test.

· You will be given ample instruction in advance for each manoeuvre and activity.

You must not do anything that is considered unlawful, dangerous, or unsafe, (for example, speeding or not. M5 J/ [# V% x" }" R) a4 Q
stopping at a stop sign).
+ m# M7 V7 z! S4 i· The Examiner will not try to trick you.( G9 G8 M+ b0 b8 Y. i0 t' t
· The Examiner will not ask you to do anything illegal.6 R5 S0 Z. r& V+ N; P0 K
· When the road test is finished, the Examiner will highlight the areas you performed well, as well as
' K# u) U. g6 A" }: p( ]/ Qthe areas you need to improve upon. The points for errors will be explained at this time.# k+ q/ S, _" D( |* {1 h

The Examiner will give you a copy of the Driver Examination Checklist form. You will also be given a copy of the
8 X" f7 I& t1 |& ^9 _/ MTest Permit. This will indicate that you have passed. Take this permit, along with your learner’s licence, to any
) g4 V k# e- d5 G' |* Z5 ]8 R- TAlberta Registry Agent to have your licence changed to a Class 5 Probationary Licence. There will be a fee for this5 Q. I* g2 a" }: K
service.

not passed. Keep the form and bring it to your next road test. You may not take another road test on the same day.
