By a Silent, Silent Chinese.

; `( B7 p+ X4 RWhen we were called the Sick Man of Asia, we were the Yellow Peril.
4 A, w8 A. d5 mWhen we are billed to be the next Superpower, we are a threat.4 ]3 e" N4 U& M) d/ a
& c" ~- ]# H" P( OWhen we closed our doors, you smuggled drugs to our markets.
: N: @( Q Y5 _/ B! G" ^9 KWhen we embraced Free Trade, you blame us for taking away your jobs.6 I# q7 O9 t9 L5 d5 b# H1 N
" v$ W( u4 D( y3 rWhen we were falling apart, you marched in your troops and wanted your “fair share”.
( K6 S. b& m$ x# tWhen we were putting the broken pieces together again, “Free Tibet” you scream, “it was an invasion!”3 |) ^9 p( u9 @& ^# `1 U0 X- z

So, we tried communism, you hated us for being communists
; w0 Z) d8 s3 cWhen we embraced capitalism, you hate us for being capitalists.

When we have a billion people, you said we were destroying the planet.& j3 S3 S/ Z8 u0 \
When we tried limiting our numbers, you said it is human rights abuse.

When we were poor, you thought we were dogs.# r& @$ X4 c! ^0 {5 m! m
When we loan you cash, you blame us for your debts.

$ l" S" r9 n: K8 Z- b9 p3 O- w, G- pWhen we build our industries, you called us polluters.
7 ~/ O, [3 Z T# x8 zWhen we sell you goods, you blame us for global warming.

4 f7 \+ m! H# o/ `7 ?2 BWhen we buy oil, you call that exploitation and genocide.

When we were lost in chaos and rampage, you wanted rule of law for us.+ O8 f- i# b9 {7 @: Z, Y
When we uphold law and order against violence, you call that violating human rights.

# l* N1 C. r( g' d2 k" QWhen we were silent, you said you want us to have free speech.

Why do you hate us so much? We asked.: V8 B* Z" D/ g% g/ G

What do you really want from us?

We want one world, one dream, and peace on Earth.
