JERUSALEM - Israel is sending disaster relief to China.

* E# R1 j* [( BForeign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel says a plane is on the way to southern China carrying clothing, medical supplies, generators and tents for victims of the May 12 earthquake.& u: x/ ?! q9 v: H/ i6 S- Z

Mekel estimated the shipment was worth US$1.5 million and said it was due to arrive in China later today./ R6 G3 V0 |9 N+ z5 v/ z

According to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, "This is the minimum that the State of Israel can do in order to express the friendship between Israel and the Chinese people."
