* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis1 X# f, d* O. l9 I8 `* I6 K8 C/ r2 B
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
; }5 y+ S+ N) m' [) h$ i8 O * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques6 {" @: P' _: w) F" y# {
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client' J6 L: j% b) ?3 B! o
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry3 B* U( g* G9 k
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
' X3 a. V; C% p9 m, t * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab0 l# _4 L3 c2 b3 L$ R
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
% f. ?* |0 v9 R * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications

* H5 D: n8 V4 I' x: ~ * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
5 h. o# a& K( n5 o4 \4 n+ o) C2 h- M6 ] * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab): }) ~+ \, c! k- O
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel" H- \/ |: ]& C+ R6 {; x! w
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures$ l! r& F; o4 W' [% h6 h. ~% R
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
