* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
# N$ o$ I. X5 v1 d/ N/ m& @ * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography% @. b8 Y! a1 E; }8 d
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques: m2 u* m4 n0 J6 j R0 ?9 M) d
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
9 v9 X4 b7 n4 `: ]9 U * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry' ~2 @/ @' j2 I5 j0 j6 e% i
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
; r* g) q7 x( {& S( [ * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
' j1 l) P/ a7 a8 K% u% K. ? * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices1 y% |% d9 w, Y4 b4 E2 j
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred( @% f, p8 i6 K3 T* W+ r+ y
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)2 H0 p5 h" X: l! L$ t* E
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel# a0 ?3 ~( N' I" ?' R
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures0 I0 N3 [' p! f3 F' L* J
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment& r$ l! |# R9 d; h
